Hi everybody!
I just run into a serious issue and so far got nor response from Google support - I hope someone here can provide some advice ![]()
I was using Stadia Pro from really the very first day, it was available in Germany without any real problems - except on: I was not able to add my son's Google account to "Family Sharing"
Anytime my son was trying to join, he received an error according the "location". First I was thinking of his account being setup incorrectly, but this week I found, my (primary) payment method was configured to an U.S. address in Ohio?! Any try to chang the locatoion/contry in this profile was not working, and I was not able to setup a new or additional profile for Germany.
Following the instructions provided online, I suspended the "wrong" profile and set up a new one with the corret addess.
After this change, I was able to add a family payment mehoth and add my son'S account to the family.
Great, issue solved - was my first idea, but n ow I lost my Stadia Pro Account with all saved game data. Anyway, the games purchased are still there, but I lost all Stadia Pro advanced features /5.1 sound, 4k video) as well?
The other strange thing is, that, my son is still not able to access the charged games. The only option after logging in to Stadia is to buy "Stadia Pro" - which was not the plan, and according to my understanding this is not mandatory!
So finally there are three questions left:
1) What is happening to the old Stadia Pro account? Will I have to pay for it any longer?
2) Is there a way to get back all the content form my old Stadia Pro, linked to the correct profile?
3) What is needed for my son, to use Stadia (not Pro) to access the shared games?
I hope anyone is able to answer at least one of the questions ![]()
Kind regards
Throsten
Hey Thorsten,
to answer your questions quickly:
1) If the "old" Stadia Pro has been on the payment profile that you have been deleted, you do not need to take any further action. Subscriptions with Google are getting automatically cancelled when a payment profile will be deleted. Some more information on what gets deleted when you delete a payments profile, you can find here.
2) I try to understand on which profile you have purchased the Stadia games? If you have had Stadia Pro and claimed games, you can only play these games when you have an active subscription. If you purchase games (not claim them), then you own them and you can always play them no matter if you have Pro or not. So to understand where you purchased your games, I would recommend for you to go to pay.google.com and login with the account where the games have been purchased with. If you have multiple payment profiles on that account, you can toggle between them in the top right corner. This way you can login with all accounts you have access to (your own one and your son's one) and check on both if there is still an active Stadia Pro subscription. You can check these in the "subscriptions & services" tab on that site, check both "active" and "inactive" there to be sure. Once you have found out where the active subscription is, you can decide what to do here in that case. It's not possible though to switch subscriptions or services from one payment profile to another, so if they were on the one that have been deleted, you can try to contact the Google Pay team to see if it's possible to reopen that payment profile after the closure. If they don't have an option, then it's most likely that a deleted profile cannot be restored, but maybe the team has more options (this is also mentioned here).
3) For your son to be able to use the shared games on Stadia, he needs to have a Google account and this account needs to be in your Google family. You can always check if he is an active member (has accepted the invitation) on families.google.com. Another important thing is that the sharing on Stadia needs to be activated (each game can be separately activated), usually the default is that games are automatically shared within the family, but it's better to doublecheck. Also good to know: Your son can only play games that you have purchased, Stadia Pro games (claimed) he could only play when you have an active subscription and share the claimed games with him. All of this you can check again in these instructions, I would recommend to check out if you missed anything in regards of sharing the games: Share games with your family group
Hope this helps, but if you need any further assistance, please let me know. If it's easier for you, you can also reply in German, also happy to help you in my native language (as you mentioned Germany, I assume you speak it).
Hey Chufu,
Vielen Dank
