it is possible to use Google Play gift cards, but you'll probably need to purchase it then with your Android phone to be able to select that payment method (when you try to make a purchase, you should be able to select "another payment method"). Also it depends where you're living (country) as Google Play gift cards doesn't work in all countries. You can check with this article (just select your country in there) if those cards work for your country.
