How to buy a game for my son with a stadia account.

I've tried, but the answer is always the same. This kind account is not valid. He is 12, I've checked family link app, family way of payment... My sons does not have a mobile with his google account, he uses his laptop. I can't understand that I'm trying to spend money and is not easy at all. Please I need some help. Thanks in advance.

There are 2 options.

  1. Buy the game as a parent on your account and share the game with the Family sharing option. 
  2. Your child goes to stadia.google.com (Chrome browser) and asks the parent to allow the payment of the game.

For option 2 you will need the following in place:

  • Google Family has family payment option
  • The child should be able to see the games in the store (could be the games are not visible because of age restriction)
    Please note that even if you allow higher rated games like PEGI18 if the child want to buy or play the game you as a parent has to allow this manually.

Good morning and thanks for your answer.

I've already had the family sharing option, actually the game I want to buy is already in my library, I bought it some time ago and he is playing with it. The case is that we want to play at the same time and the only way is buying the game. In addition I' ve also tried to purchase other games or even the PRO subscription and the answer is always the same. In Spanish the message says: Se ha producido un error. No se puede realizar esta acción con este tipo de cuenta. In English summing up the account is not valid. 
I've check Family payment in google play and family link, but stadia doesn't even try to send any request to ask for permission, it tries to buy directly as if he was an adult. 
The only thing we haven't tried is through Stadia APP in an android device, as my boy doesn't have a smartphone yet and because he is a child the system doesn't allowed to put his account in any device with another account. 
I think I've given all the details you could need. I hope you could help. Thanks in advance for your time.

I'm sorry you have run into this issue. I'd like to help, if I can, by asking some clarifying questions.

  • What game are you trying to play with your son?
  • Could you please send a screen shot of the error message you are getting?
  • Could you please send a screen shot of your parental settings you have enabled in your family account?
  • Were you able to attempt to purchase the game on the Stadia app?

Let us know these updates when you get a chance. Depending on how things go, we can look into some more potential troubleshooting options.
