How is it with game prices?

Jump to Best Response

I have a question because I do not fully understand the description of the Stadia service in Czech.

I pay 10 euros per month (or a similar amount) and I have all the games for free and for an unlimited time?

Or do I still have to buy more games to be able to play them over the 120 minutes it shows? My question is whether the 10 euro is final and I don't pay anything anymore and I have all the content for an unlimited time or is there something else hidden behind it.If there are still fees for games, then the Stadia service is just a replacement for HW, however, if I still pay for games and I have good enough HW, then Stadia is nonsense for me. I need to clarify that.

thank you for answer

Hi @FanaticsCZ

You can buy the games and those are for you to play with or without a Pro subscription.

The Pro subscription gives you access to claimable Pro games, which you can play as long as you have a active Pro subscription.

Next to the Pro claimable games you also get 4k and surround support when you have a active Pro subscription.

Pro subscription

  • 4K with max 60 FPS
  • Surround sound support
  • Monthly claimable Pro games
  • Play bought games
  • Play free games
  • Play claimed Pro games

Free subscription

  • HD with max 60 FPS
  • Stereo sound
  • Play bought games
  • Play free games

Thank you for answer. I fully understand that now. It's kind of like Psplus and since I've had ps plus for a long time, I already have a lot of free games + PS5 console. For me, this service is therefore uninteresting, because there are still unsuitable game titles in the subscription. And paying for games again to have them on Stadia is nonsense. In addition, they are much more expensive than the regular price on the website.

@FanaticsCZ regarding on paying again for games, it's the same concept with other platforms. If you buy a game on PS5, you will also need to buy another copy of the game if you want to play the game on PC or Xbox.

As for game pricing it will be different by country or region. Stadia is running deals from time to time so if you don't want want to pay the current price, you can wait until they have deals.

The price of the games in Stadia is the usual one in the official stores, if you use unofficial stores we cannot compare it. Like other official stores, you will usually find juicy discounts, I have bought many top games at half price or with an 80% discount, just as I could do on other platforms.

A big difference is that I don't need extra hardware to play wherever I want, I don't need to pay subscription services to play on the internet like consoles, in addition to saving me a lot of game space on the hard drive... also, I find it much more rewarding to be able to play in PC communities as is the case with The Elder Scroll Online... which also occupies more than 100GB of installation, which saves me... in addition to saving on electricity bills and heat.

Each person has their tastes, for example for me having to pay for expensive hardware, not being able to choose the peripheral to use, paying a subscription to play online and having to have the games installed is a great limitation.

The Pro catalog may not be the big draw, but for the price of a current console for 4K gaming I might be able to afford 4 years of Stadia Pro and buy the games at discounts... honestly, I have more games than I can afford play. For example, I will be able to play new generation Fifa 23 only by buying the game without having to buy a new console, the same for example with almost the entire Ubisoft catalog that you will know... other games because I will play them on other platforms but it does not prevent me from playing one or the other because being purchased I can play whenever I want and only pay Pro when I want to claim a game that interests me, discounts or play in 4K.

So if you currently have a console, you may be interested in using Stadia as an add-on for certain games on sale where you prefer to use other peripherals, you don't want to have them downloaded all the time or play everywhere.

Remember that you can try 3 months for free Stadia, maybe 6 if you have an LG, maybe 9 or more if you have a certain phone company. In addition to trying it for free.

PS: I have more than 1000 games on Steam, my own servers to stream outside my main PC, and I still find Stadia very interesting and can be combined with other platforms.

I still don't see the advantage in this system. When I also have a ps remote :slightly_smiling_face: . And what concerns the prices - what I wrote is definitely not the prices in action. Normal game prices in the Czech Republic are 2x cheaper than what you get at Stadia. I repeat, these are regular prices, not promotions! It's true that even PS+ has more expensive games than regular prices.

@FanaticsCZ I don't know how the pricing situation in Czech is, so can't really comment.

And if you have PS5 and access to PS5 remote play then you definitely have option. PS remote play requires the PS5 to be turned on right? What if you're away from home and you have a power outage in your home, then you basically will not able to access your game anymore. This is not the case with Stadia as your "console" is in the cloud.

That's true, but if you're not a totally addicted gamer who gets knocked out after a few hours without a console, you'll survive. Definitely better than paying for overpriced games :). Of course, each according to their own addiction :). And if I lose my PS remote for any reason :), at worst I'll play Angry birds on my mobile :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: and on my laptop LoL :).

@FanaticsCZ At the end of the day, you should play with whatever works best for you. I'm sorry the pricing situation is bad in your country. In US it's pretty much the same for regular price. I personally only buy games when they're on discounts. It's been years since I bought games full price, so basically I try to get wherever has the best deals.

I have a PS5, PC, and also play on Stadia, so I'm not trying to convince you to Switch to Stadia. Just trying to give some insight about the potentials about the platform.
