The problem in a nutshell: the recurrent or automatic charges for Stadia services on debit/credit cards (that is to say games reservation and Pro subscription) are now refused by several european banks because of a new regulation that require a strong authentication before granting the charge on customer account (for example by means of an OTP code or similar).
This regulation should be called PSD2. My bank told me that it's vendor responsability to organize the whole charge process in order to comply the regulation requirements.Otherwise the bank is forced to refuse the transaction.
Someone has recently experienced this problem? Is Google Europe taking it into consideration?

My bank changed settings regarding this, and I need to have like an OTP and a commercial PIN (for transaction online) and until now I didn't face any issue on the renewals. Did you see the transaction reject for Stadia Pro?

I just had this problem with the charge for Resident Evil Village (I booked it last March) and I fear the same problem could happen when next Stadia Pro renewal should take place (so, in a couple of weeks' time).
A friend of mine has just experienced this same problem (and he has a bank account with another different bank).
My bank told me that, in this specific situation, Google should organize its charge process in order to comply the new regulation.
So now basically I don't know how to escape this awkward situation...

I've just asked my bank for detailed information.
They suggested me, as a workaround, to remove and then add again the payment method (debit or credit card) in Google Pay. That's because probably the current payment method was registered in Google Pay BEFORE the strong authentication process required by european regulation came into effect.
The problem should disappear (cross the fingers).
At the end ?'ve solved by adding another card from another bank in the payment methods, much probably the first bank has some security protocols not compatible with the Google store.
I've add a second card in the payment methods, too.
I think I'll see whether everything goes smooth only next week when Stadio Pro subscription charge takes place.
Wait and see.
