I'm in an especially stupid situation. I purchased my Stadia on a work e-mail account that is no longer active - and paid for it with a credit card that I closed (as I moved out of the country in-which it was issued when I left my job).
I'm avoiding pinging support because they said not to contact them for a bit - but I have checked with the bank (TD Canada) and they say no credit has been received on the closed account.
Anyone else in the same boat or have suggestions of what to do/what will happen? I have the order number and original email, etc showing the purchase but cannot access the original account.
It's only $200 bucks but... I'd rather have that than not (obviously).
Hey @jsc315,
Are you also in the similar situation that your Google account has been deactivated? If not, your question is already answered in the Stadia FAQ article. If the purchase goes to a card that's no longer active, the bank may still receive the money, so best in your case to check with the bank. If the refund fails, you would get an email from Google to ask you for an alternate payment method.
Hope this helps.
Hey @iambenk,
I would give Google a bit more time in that case. Once they proceed with your refund, you will receive an email and if the refund was rejected by the bank, you would get an email as well. The tricky part in your particular case is of course, that you purchased Stadia on an account that is not active anymore: Does that mean though you deleted the account or is it still active and can receive emails?
Because if your account had been previously deleted (and permanently deleted), then I'm not sure if Google has a way to contact you. But since they have only just started since November 9 to proceed with refunds and need to walk them through manually, it may be possible still for you to receive their email somehow.
But yeah as you mentioned as well, I don't think there's any chance of contacting the Stadia/Google Support before 18th January (when the refunds should all be processed), so just personally I would recommend to wait and then see if you receive a message in Nov/Dec/beginning of Jan and if not, then check with the support.
Thanks @Chufu! I'm not sure if the email is closed entirely (my old work may have kept it alive) but I no longer have access.
I agree the best thing to do is wait it out and see if the refund team is willing to work with me on it once the dust has settled from the mass refunds.
Appreciate the reply.
So Im in a similar situation and I got my refund but it went to a card and bank that is no longer active and I have no way to contact support
