Hi all,
So I recently purchased a Stadia Premiere Edition thinking in addition to games, I would be able to stream tv. But for the life of me, I have no idea how to do that. It comes on to the Stadia screen but no GUI interface for streaming.
Did I buy the wrong thing? I get the Chromecast Ultra box and the stadia controller.
-thx
Hello @memyselfi,
Welcome to the Stadia community!
Right now there is not a way to stream games to YouTube within the Chromecast Ultra.
A workaround that some YouTube streamers had tried is to play your games on the Chromecast Ultra while logging in on stadia.google.com on a PC/Mac and enable the stream from there. This while playing the game on the TV with the Chromecast Ultra.
Hope this helps. ![]()

Thanks for the reply. I guess I bought the wrong thing. This is basically a gaming console. **bleep**.
I guess I should have gotten the chrome TV.
Hi @memyselfi I'm a bit confused with what you meant by stream TV. Do you mean to stream public channels to the TV? You can still stream TV content from streaming apps like Netflix or Hulu for example using the Chromecast Ultra.
Also, when you said you'd rather buy Chrome TV, are you referring to Chromecast TV? If yes, then you will still not be able to stream public TV channels. Chromecast TV is actually similar to the Chromecast Ultra you got from the Stadia Premiere bundle, but instead of controlling the stream using your phone/computer, you the UI is shown on TV and you can use a controller to browser/navigate.
If your internet/cable plan allows you to watch TV content, you'll be able to stream using Chromecast Ultra through the respective channel apps.
In any case, if you think you purchased the wrong thing, you can get a refund assuming you got the kit from Google Store
Hi Ivan,
Forgive the ignornace.
My main intent was to install livenettv on the chromecast so I can watch shows. I not sure if that's considered streaming live tv.
I really have no interest in gaming but thought it's there should I want it.
Hope thats a little more clear.
Thanks.
Hey there memyselfi,
If the livenettv app supports casting, you can use the Chromecast Ultra for live TV. Just press the cast button (usually in the video player or on the home screen), select your Chromecast and it should start playing.
I do not have experience with the app you want to use, though, so it might not support it.
For reference, check out what the cast button looks like.
Hi All,
Appreciate all the inputs.
I can "cast" to the ultra from my phone. So if I have a youtube video on my cell, cast and I see it on the ultra screen. That works fine. I guess now I have to find a way to install livenettv on my android phone and cast. I was more under the illusion that I would use the stadia controller to navigate a GUI screen ( see image below), similar to smart TV. I really didn't want to use my cell to watch TV. Oh well.
At the moment, I have an Android IPTC (Easytone) but it's slow. I thought I can replace it with this option.
This was what I want to do. https://reviewvpn.com/live-net-tv-on-google-chromecast/
Again, thanks for all the comments..
