app doesn't seem to know when the controller is connected even with the usb attached. is there a step i'm missing or setting i need to enable when the usb is connected to the phone? maybe i need to make sure the controller is off even?
Hi again @kynja. According to the Help Center article about the Stadia controller, it requires Android 6.0 or higher, so your phone should natively support it.
Let's try something else. Please try hard-resetting your controller. Please try the steps on this article under the header "Reset your Stadia controller."
Please report back when you've tried this and we'll go from there. Feel free to @ mention me.
Hi @kynja
what's your Android version? The controller requires Android 10 or newer.
it's whatever the razer phone 2 android version is. the phone that i already tried posting to this post but obviously wouldn't let me
Hi @kynja, can you take a screenshot of your "about this phone" screen so we can determine what version of Android you are running?
on my "up to date" razer phone 2 it's android 9
forgot to say that though i appreciate being able to use the built-in screen controller i can't operate well enough to play anything well enough

@ChrisFromGoogle that seems to have probably fixed it because it finally asked me about linking the controller instead of automatically using the the controller to charge my phone. however, i can't confirm because the update will not allow me to choose to play from my phone now. i just had a thought, i'll try turning on the experimental option and see if that works then will mark your answer as accepted in order to close the thread
