Any word from anyone on when messaging is coming to Stadia? It would be pretty swell to send a text message to someone else.
@cphillips818 No official word on that so far. I know this is one of the most requested feature, so hopefully we'll see it sooner than later. Make sure to keep an eye on the announcement/ blog at the front page of this community to monitor the update.
Wow, why this wasn't there from the start just depresses me. Build an ecosystem and have everything with in it. Because of the lack of messaging it's impossible to get people together for raids on Ghost Recon unless you are part of a discord group where they arrange them. I managed to join one and couldn't voice chat with them in the game because they were all keeping muted because they had already started chatting within discord. Totally f-ed up if you ask me. I just hope Google reads these posts and sees what a mistake they have made. I mean why oh why isn't this forum within the app 🤷🏻![]()
+1 for the instant messaging!
+1 for this feature.
I will send a feedback in the app. will be great add
Still waiting for news about a possible messaging feature on Stadia months later, let alone date of implication etc.
This, and the lack of AAA games (even old ones), and just good games generally in the Stadia catalogue are the 2 main reasons why everyone I know personally has already left Stadia, I'm the last of over 20 people!
Someone commented at me that Stadia had a catalogue of over 90 games, as if that was a good thing (this was in July 2020), and not just the bare minimum to keep "Pro" users happy.
It feels as if Google have this amazing platform, but instead of releasing all the games they can to keep non Pro users happy (people who can and do regularly drop £50 - £100 on pre release games, and don't really care about Steam World Dig), they seem to be targeted at the Pro only market, which is likely made up of kids who can only afford the money for the subscription and will rarely (if ever) buy a game.
If "Pro" is how Google are planning on making money, people like me will keep it for the deals alone (so long as there is a constant stream of good new games for us to buy).
It's just frustrating to me to see what could be the future of gaming managed so poorly, and the lack of messaging and games show you just how badly planned Stadia has been, maybe we need a change in management to clean things up?
PS, Google, I say this from a place of love for the platform, and frustration over the management/implementation!
