Keep getting kicked!!

PC user.

Did speed tests, reset the router, double and triple checked my security, wifi, and device settings.

Speed and connection are rock solid, low latency. When I signed up, there were zero problems for about a month. Since then, it has been getting progressively worse. Time of day does not seem to matter, and I have tested this with junk games nobody is likely to play as well. So I know it isn't due to peak hours or Google's servers being bogged.

Lowering the graphics all the way down to 720p has zero effect.

I can't even get through a cutscene before Stadia dumps my connection and I have to restart the game.

Getting 5 minutes of uninterrupted play is absolutely unheard of these last few weeks. Gameplay is also extremely laggy and pixelated.

Anyone else having this problem? Anyone been able to fix it? Should I pen a very strongly worded letter to the Google Overlords?

Hey @Yeddy,

sorry to hear that you have these issues when playing Stadia on your PC.

So I guess you're playing currently via Chrome Browser, is this correct? If not, would you mind trying installing the Chrome Browser and see if that fixes the issue? Or try another browser to see if it works in another one. If that's the case it can be that the problem exists only in that specific browser.

You can also try Stadia with the Stadia app on mobile or on the TV via your Chromecast to see if you have the same issue of getting kicked there as well. If so, I believe the problem lays in your connection somehow (I am not a connection expert though).

In case you find out that your browser is causing the issue, try these steps:

  • Check that you have the most recent Chrome version.
  • Disable all extensions in the browser and check if that solves the issue.
  • Delete the cache & cookies of Chrome.
  • Check that your Chrome Browser is not blocked by any Malware (check here step 5).
  • Check your PC if there is any Malware/Virus installed that might cause issues in your browser. Try to just run an antivirus-programm to isolate this.
  • Check if you have experimental Features (Chrome flags) activated:
  1. Go to chrome://flags.
  2. Search a specific theme to your problem with the search bar and check if you can disable this feature, e.g. "enables pointer lock options" or "hardware accelerated video decode".
  3. If you can't find those, click on "reset to standard" in the top right corner to enable the standard-settings of the browser.

If it's a connection issue, you might want to contact your Internet provider to see if they have any additional steps for you to try to optimise your connection.

Went down your list and did everything I hadn't tried yet - which was just checking the flags. No change.

Also tried messing about with the codec - VP9 and h264. No change.

Tried forcing chrome to use my dedicated graphics card. No change.

What I can't figure out and is really bothering me, is why it worked *perfectly* for the first month (trial month) and then suddenly turned into...whatever the hell it is now, as soon as I started paying.

Hi @Yeddy,

Are you playing on a PC or such using Chrome?
Do you use WiFi? If so are you connected using 5 GHz?

Do you have some more information about your situation so we can help troubleshoot. :slightly_smiling_face:

@RXShorty

I am using Chrome, and I am on a very fast and stable (except, only stable according to absolutely every other application, site, benchmark I have and not stable according to Stadia) wifi. Yes I'm on a 5GHz connection! :slightly_smiling_face:

@Yeddy thanks for the reply!

Do you have the positibily to connect with a ethernet cable to see if the WiFi is a issue?
Just so we can rule out a WiFi related issue because you already tested with a Chrome incognito window.
