It began so good, but now it doesn't work at all.. (CCU via LAN keeps disconnecting)

I have my CCU connected via LAN on a 100/100mbit fiber connection. From when I first installed it and until thursday this week, it worked flawlessly! Great connection, no delays or visual quality drops. However, since thursday this week, playing via the CCU is impossible. Loading into Destiny 2 (same issue with all games) everything is good. But after 1-5 minutes the game will completely freeze (can't move cursor or player in game). After a little while, the game will boot me back out and into Stadia. Here everything works normally - I can also use the controller in the Stadia menu, while the game is frozen.. I have tested using stadia on my mac via wifi and the controller connected via USB, this works fine. But with the lower quality of connection available via WIFI. Next I tried using the CCU with wifi (disconnected the LAN cable), then I am able to play games again (but again with the degraded quality over wifi). Finally, I did a reset of the CCU, connected the LAN cable and the issues came back. To verify that the LAN connection works, I casted 2 episodes of Vikings via HBO directly afterwards, without a single connection issue. What to do? I am out of ideas here..

Is it possible your ISP is throttling Stadia traffic? That may sound paranoid, but ISPs typically have clauses that allow them to do basically anything they want to your Internet traffic, and if they have noticed you using hundreds of gigabytes of data on Stadia, they may have decided to reduce the bandwidth they allow for that service. That would be a scummy move, but many ISPs are indeed scummy.

While playing, if you press the Stadia button, you can check the network connection quality. I would recommend checking it as soon as the game launches and then, once troubles begin, check it again. If the network connection quality has dropped, and nothing else on your local network has changed, like no one else in the household has started streaming anything, that is suspicious.

What is odd is you mentioned it works fine over Wi-Fi on your Chromecast Ultra, but with degraded quality. You should still be able to get a 4K stream, albeit with a bit more latency and a bit less stability, if your Wi-Fi is good. You do not technically need it to be wired.

If you can possibly rule out all network issues, it could just be some issue with the Ethernet port on the Chromecast Ultra's power adapter.

Is there a chance something is wrong with your ethernet cable? That might be another explanation.

Hi both Thanks for the suggestions. I have been in contact with Stadia support and we have tried a whole range of different troubleshooting steps in vain so far. Amon them is changing of etherner cable and port on router. WIFI could be a viable option, but unfortunately our house doesn't allow a good quality to pass through from the router to the location of the TV, so that is not a viable workaround. The suggestion with my ISP is intersting, I hadn't thought about that. I'll try to contact them and see if they can help. Thanks!
