Hello community, im getting started with stadia and i have games i already own on platforms like steam and epic games and i want to know how i link them cause i dont want to pay 2 times for the same game and less if its a 60€ like shadow of the tomb raider
No one needs to buy a game he already owns again on Stadia.
You can still play it on your PC, Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, Geforce Now or what ever.
Google doesnt force you to pay again for it.
Just try Stadia for free, claim the free games and find out if Stadia works on your internet and if you like it or not.
If you like it, you can buy games you dont have already, or if you hate it or doesnt work well cancel it again.
This mentality baffles me. If you owned a PS4 and bought an XBOX 360 -- You wouldn't expect the same game to transfer.
If you owned Google Play movies and installed Hulu. Had Infinity wars on google play but was upset because you didn't want to pay again on Hulu, you wouldn't expect Hulu to just give you the title.
Stadia is it's own entity, just like GeForce Now is and all the other platforms coming out.
Steam is it's own entity.
If you want 50 games at random each month that rotate out with your saved progress, Nvidia now is for you.
This platform gives you tomb raider on Pro anyways - So get pro. Matter of fact it's fairly generous with Pro. Could be better, but I'm not complaining.
I just don't understand where this logic comes from.

Translation: Not at all, you're SOL and JWF.
The worst online gaming service ... I'm glad it's closing soon, like many other google projects left in the wind, I'm sorry I invested time and money in this pathetic service, opinion said after 5 months of playing on this service, I am glad to wish you from the bottom of my heart, GOODBYE STADIA!
stadia isn't closing at all, they are closing down first party game production not the stadia service, some people like the service so please check your information before misguiding others, if you don't like it don't use it it's that simple, nobody forced you to carry on using it for 5 months.
Exactly what this guy said... And what makes so bad for you? ive been using it for last 4 months and its frikn great! zero latency for this guy!! and i use xbox game pass also.. gamepass offers a lot more games, but I cant say ive experienced zero latency with xbox but... its very rare it happens.. Stadia.. not once has this happened.. Seriously.. flawless experience so far and I play cyberpunk 2077..
Chiram,
This is PC, not Console systems. It works differently.
With GE Force you can connect to your epic and steam account and do not need to pay again for the games you own and can play them directly streaming from GE force.
So what baffles me is your defensive approach.
GE force is 19ntimes better just for this reason.
Geforce now let's you play the games you already own on steam, uplay, epic games etc. It doesn't provide any games so your information is misleading. the game choice on stadia is poor and the prices are a joke I cancelled my 1 month trial after about 20 mins. Why would anyone pay £49.99 for a game they already own and can play on geforce now for free, sounds like pretty sound mentality to me unless you have money to burn, there is a very good reason stadia failed, logic explained stadia sucks ![]()
Stadia has not failed at all. It's the opposite now. Looks like Geforce Now is failing since a bunch of developers pooled their titles from GFN. I purchased Doom Eternal on Steam just to find out it was pulled from GFN. Bummer. Stadia Pro is not big, but it's growing. For 10 bucks a month you can get some good titles (like Sniper, Hitman, etc.) for free plus a bunch of games go with nice discounts. I have both subscriptions: GFN and Stadia now. They all have their pros and cons. Come on. Its just 15 bucks for both of them. Yeah, you may argue that once you purchased a game on Steam you can install it anywhere anytime while, if Stadia takes crap, you will loose all your purchases. I don't care personally since when I am done with a game there are like 0.000000005% chances I will replay it again. Having Steam linked to Stadia would've been the best scenario. Come on Google, just buy that **bleep** Nvidia. You've got plenty of cash, LOL.
Maybe failed was a strong choice of words more like fallen short of what it could of been, for anyone who owns a PC and already has titles geforce now to me is the better choice, you can play the supported games you already own anywhere for free you don't even need the founders subscription there is a free option. Console players will play on console with options from both Sony and Microsoft for remote play on several devices and on console is where they will buy games, the pro games as you say are great value but only if you don't already own them elsewhere if you have a gaming PC or current console you won't sink serious time into games on stadia, if you already own games you won't buy them again at full price on stadia as the cost would soon out weigh the novelty of been able to play a £50 game on the bus lol, so I'm just not sure where stadia is suppose to fit it, it doesn't complement either console or PC gaming and just isn't strong enough to stand on its own and replace either, plus it is fully dependent on Internet speed which leaves a lot of people on slow Internet or with a usage cap simply unable to access the service.
I think one of the best use cases for Stadia is not having to have a gaming rig. So, if I could use the games I already have on a few distribution platforms like Steam, I'd be really happy to get rid of my gaming PC and not care about upgrading it anymore.
But as it is not the case, my only choice is to not sign up on Stadia.
Same here. I am currently deciding if I want to upgrade my Gaming PC or get rid of it and use only my mac instead. I have a bunch of games on Steam, GOG and Epic. Currently I am using GeForce now since the games I am actively playing are supported.
But I will switch over to shadow somewhere in May (they have a loooong waiting list). Till this time I will use GeForce Now and my PC.
I would use Stadia instead. I trust Google to make the product great, but the cost of loosing my library would be too high.
Hi @hjmaier,
I can understand your point. I also have a large Steam games list but I don't play that many games on it.
And if I want to play them now they are mostly on Stadia or GeForce Now.
To be honest at first I had 2 stream services to play all my games without upgrading my hardware.
Right now I stopped using Geforce Now because there are no games I want to play that aren't on Stadia.
But you can use them next to each other ofcourse.
Your mentality is outdated and illogical. It's totally reasonable to ask the question nowadays. For example: I bought Destiny long before Stadia. When stadia came out I was able to link to existing account. Who knows what other studios are doing this unless they ask.
I know this is an old thread but I have never understood responses like yours. Your logic and examples make no sense. I have 2 PC's and a geforce account. In my opinion GeForce now is simply a rented on demand remote PC but by your logic to play a PC game on the 3 different PC's I should have to buy the game 3 times. What if I set up an identical virtual cloud PC on Amazon web services....literally remote PC hardware I would be renting, should I have to buy another copy of the game to run it there? I don't know how stadia runs or on what hardware, maybe it classifies as a separate console but if it runs on remote PC hardware then asking if already purchased games could run on it without having to buy them again is a perfectly valid question. Developers who pull their games from GeForce now in my opinion are just greedy asshats standing in the way of people who might stop buying expensive gaming PC components instead of spending a fraction of the price to rent a PC from GeForce now and not need to buy a new $1k video card on a yearly basis. The world is switching to Cloud based everything and those developers are greedy dinosaurs trying to stand in the way of progress that could really benefit consumers.
I'm sure you are constantly baffled mentally when it comes to what a platform is. Stadia is on PC. Steam is on PC. If I own a game on steam, I should not have to buy it again on Stadia in order to stream it. You clearly speak of things you know nothing about assuming that you can't play a game you purchased elsewhere on GeForce NOW. Take Control, for example. I bought the Ultimate Edition on steam and some months later received a free copy on Epic. I can stream either one in GeForce NOW. Nvidia didn't pay gate and make me purchase the game again on their "platform". It was purchase from store of my choice straight to absolute streaming bliss. However, I WOULD have to purchase the whole game again with Stadia. Lets pretend, for a moment, that GeForce NOW doesn't have browser or android app options and I'm away from my PC/streaming box. Stadia should be the better option, but pay gating people instead of plug and play with games you already own on the same godd*mn platform is just stupid. All this does is make me wish it would die, but it won't because of cucks like this that think it's an entirely different platform. It's not. PC is a platform. Don't bring your sh*tty console war to PC.
Well it really depends how you look at a "PC".
You can install a different OS on your PC take for example Ubuntu instead of Windows.
Now Steam is available on Ubuntu as on Windows but not all games are.
If you install a different OS like Solaris or FreeBSD it is a whole different story.
So in opinion Steam is platfrom but a PC isn't.
But then again really depends on how you look at it.
And it is a strange concept that if you buy a game on Steam and pay 30% to Steam and 70% to the game developer you pay 0% to Stadia who provides a complete cloud solution for you to play on.
Sure GeForce NOW only charges you a monthly fee but that is their business model. But the library is changing and games come and go from the platform.
Stadia has a free option, so even without a subscription they provide you the platform to play your bought games.
Don't get me started on the Epic store... they loose money just to take a bigger marketshare. ![]()
would you buy a new adapter to get gas every time you stop at a gas station? your argument baffles me, as it implies that I as a customer, don't own a copy (digital or physical) of the game I bought, therefore I'm not entitled to use it under different circumstances. if the services offered by stadia are of game streaming, I don't see why I should pay twice for a game, unless, and there's my potential culprit, there is some greed involved. If greed is involved I don't see why they would need a white kinght like you to defend them, they decided to throw dignity and morality out of the window and don't need your heartspoken defence, unless it's not really heartspoken and comes from a position of interest.
Excuse my French, but it's really not your bloody place to understand the logic of someone else.
Also, you're dead wrong. Since a lot of things like ESO and Ubisoft+ allow multiplatform linking with Stadia.
So try again, Mr. Founder.
I bought games on Steam and when I use GeForce Now I don't buy the game... I just simply show I already own it and GeForce Now streams the game.. Ignorance must be why you are mentally baffled.. this happens to you a lot doesn't it?
You are just factually wrong.
When you owned a PS4 game, you would have to pay for the X360 again because of A. The games were not interchangeable and B. The developers had to develop and optimize the whole again for each console.
Hulu, vs GooglePlay and all, are streaming services. You pay only once for the service. However, Google Stadia (interestingly lacking behind the competition), does not help you in any way. In fact, many times they do not even offer the discounts that are offered by the parent company. Just like now, that RDR2 is on 50% off on both RockStar and Steam, but somehow Stadia as always is fixed on 60 euros.
These are definitely financial policies by Google. Yes, they have the right but that doesn't mean they will have a big player base for the same very reason.
Google is already making 11 bucks a month out of me to use Stadia, so they are getting regular revenue from me for this service. I've already paid (for example CDPR) 60+ Euro for a copy of Cyberpunk on my PC, so I effectively have "a license." I don't mind paying Stadia 11/per month for the SERVICE and option of playing it on my laptop as I can understand why the OP asked the question, it's the exact same on that I have myself. I want the option of using the service to play resource-intensive games on my laptop that under normal circumstances I would not be able to. To be honest, because of this very reason, I'm not sure I'll continue with this service in its present form.
Hiya @Gadzooky,
The Pro subscription is not mandatory to play the games you bought on Stadia.
To give you a small overview:
Stadia Pro:
Stadia Free tier:
Hope this helps! ![]()
I see you are getting eviscerated for this question , but Insee where you are coming from. So I am a 50 year old gamer and my kids or someone in my house has every system. But some of my kids are grown and my dad likes games, so I am trying to test various platforms to see what’s out there with the end goal of having fun, ease of accessibility and the ability to get my dad the game as well to play or one of my kids. I currently subscribe to, very newly Stadia, Luna with the controller, GeForce Now and also use services or apps like Moonlight, Steamlink and Shadow gaming. I feel like I’m missing something. It’s a good question, but it also makes sense that the platform makes money. However if you are like me and comparing as a consumer, you see Luna has a load of offerings that are quality titles and free. GeForce now expands their available library weekly. I’m thinking based on what you said, you may want to try GeForce now if remote, because it does currently provide many games in the Steam and perhaps Epix libraries. Luna has really impressed me with their new feature to enable a non Luna subscriber to jump into many different games with you via a code. Perhaps Google Stadia will incorporate that feature. I signed up to give it a whirl and see how it compares from a lag and Ofcourse ease of use/ accessibility issue. Best of luck.
