Hi everyone,
Apologies for the delayed communication regarding this issue. I'm glad to hear that everything is back to normal on your end, and if the issue returns, please feel free to post again in the Stadia Community Forum or reach out to the Stadia support team. Thanks everybody!

@cynic : I was experiencing similar issues on and off in the UK. My own suspicion is that the Stadia network is still evolving and while it is then for some regions issues such as this are going to happen from time to time.
Still my own personal opinion here, but we are still in effect "early access" users and therefore a lot of stuff still isn't fully finished and we should probably expect to see issues of this type occur for periods of time until the mainstream release in 2020. At which point hopefully, Google/Stadia will have a more stable network/production environment, and that if there are changes being made then they can provide advance notice for performance hits and outages etc. I just don't think that they are quite at that level of communication yet, and probably would rather keep the amount of change that is probably occurring out of sight/mind of the users until there are fewer things to report.
Just my own opinion on the matter, can't say how far away or close to the truth it might be, but in the short term at least the platform is still evolving, in the longer term then Stadia needs to control this and report it more effectively.
Thanks a lot for your elaborate reply. It's quite interesting, that this can be observed in the UK as well. I am certain that you are right about them still working heavily on the infrastructure. And if this issue just came and vanished as quickly as it appeared, I wouldn't have any problem with that since I also understand that this is a work in progress.
However, I have to say that I am slowly getting a bit annoyed at this issue. Today is the third day this is happening and I still can't reach excellent connection quality. No matter what I do. After checking (and playing around) with settings, cables, the router and even trying two different Chromecasts wired directly into the router with a 3m cable, I am left quite frustrated not knowing what the problem is and running out of things to try and means to diagnose.
Perhaps a short statement from Google that these things can and will happen and that it is normal and will go away after a new more days would help... certainly before we start tearing down walls in our homes or making our ISP support go crazy. ![]()
I'd appreciate this a lot, since I am afraid that this might be the new normal for my location now for some odd reason.
@Phili My ISP is HTP, which is a regional thing here in Hanover.
@Pheenix This would certainly be an option. Seeing bandwidth usage on my router there is no obvious reason for getting a 1080p stream.
@cynic : I hear you loud and clear, I can certainly feel your frustration and sympathize with you. I don't honestly know what the answer is, certainly supply feedback via the Stadia app. Then just keep up with support and this forum I guess, until there are enough users that are raising the subject.
I've exactly the same problem since yesterday, also in Germany. @cynic what is your ISP? In my case it's Vodafone.
Same here (Germany, ISP is Vodafone). Google, please add a "force 4K mode" in the stadia app to solve this Problem easily.
Hi Very nice to hear That i am Not Alone With the same problem. My isp is versatel / 1und1 and i think they Turn down the transferrate. It is very frustrating with a250k bandwith to see i have a Bad connection Das ist mal n Stichwort für die netzneutralität
When it append I would check connection quality.
@Northlight
i do the Test and there were no packetloss and good Ping and jitter
for me here are 2reasons
1. the german isp Slow the Connection of stadia
2. Google has problems or transfers slower to germany
i done a test with vpn and it was everytime showing 4K and excellent connection from hide.me
if I plugged off the vpn client it was horrible
Thanks a lot for all of your feedback guys. This is really helpful. I am planning on keeping this thread alive and will report the situation every day. Hopefully this will end up on Google's radar sooner rather than later.
So today marks the 4th morning I can only achieve good connection quality - no 4K stream.
The Stadia speed test reports excellent connection and the same values it always does. I have also tried the packet loss test posted by @Northlight and I am getting a result of 0.0%.
Considering we have multiple people reporting this issue going on for more or less the same period of time on different ISPs, I am somehow doubting that this is an ISP thing. Perhaps it is really Google doing something or some change they made beginning of this week.
@GraceFromGoogle Perhaps this is on your radar already? ![]()
This issue was reported in the German Stadia Facebook group already.
We were able to figure that that this problem seems only to appear to users using Unitymedia/Vodafone connections since other users still enjoy an excellent and immersive experience with less bandwith. Therefore it is alarming that even users with Telekom- and 1&1-connections report problems here ![]()
The bandwith seems perfectly fine and only Stadia seems to be effected by the loss of quality.
Unfortunately the UM-support in Germany is not very helpful and still a little number of users report the problem.
Maybe Google could take an attempt on talking to Unitymedia/Vodafone and maybe offer some help?
Let's hope that this degrade was not done on purpose to save bandwith ![]()
@Borussia it does not seems to happen only to Vodafone/UM-Users, also Telekom, 1und1 and others. So I think the problem is not on the Vodafone site.
@Phili Yes, thanks. I've already edited my post. Haven't read the first page here since it was a direct link redirected from the Facebook-site ![]()
Hey @Borussia
Thanks for reporting this. I wasn't aware since I am not on Facebook. Perhaps you could take to your Facebook group that it seems many ISPs are affected, not just Vodafone.
For me bandwidth and line quality seem perfectly fine as well, just as things were when I was able to recieve 4K streams before this issue started beginning of this week.
Question to those with 4K streaming problems: can you still watch 4K60 YouTube videos, e.g. https://youtu.be/LXb3EKWsInQ
I have the same problem with a 500/500 MB/s fibre connection via „Deutsche Glasfaser“ directly hooked up to the chromecast ultra using an ethernet cable. Last week everything was fine, but since a couple of days, I can’t get an „excellent“ connection any more, neither 4K resolution. Speed tests on stadia.com prove the obviously excellent connection speed. Since many different providers seem to be affected, the issue is probably on Google‘s end.
I don't have a 4K monitor yet but I noticed Stadia is displaying the wrong connection speed (at least in Tomb Raider 2013) the last couple of days: I sometimes get "OK" instead of "Good" for several minutes but the resolution definitely still is 1080p and I see no artifacting or anything else unusual. The downstream speed stays stable at 3.5 mb/sec when this happens (which is 1080p60 speed).
@Valynor On my TV (4K is supported) Stadia is definitely not streaming in 4K, only 1080p. The 4K-symbol is also missing in the stadia connection-menu. There must be an issue with the stadia-speed-test, when I start a game with Chromecast.
I can also confirm that on my 4K TV it is definitely only a 1080p stream.
Same here. Berlin. Vodafone. 1000mbit down! Thx for the post. Since launch 4k no problem. I could't play for 2 days because of work. Playing today only 1080p
Same.
173 Mbit/s download speed according to the stadia speed test.
ISP: Telekom
Router: FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE
Connection: Wifi
Still no statement from Google, is this forum only for decoration? At this point I will advise every friend against Stadia. This support is dreadful. Even the call center from Google couldn't tell something useful.
Same thing. Berlin 100/40, 1&1.
For me it's all working fine in London with a 38MB/s connection stable. Chromecast doesn't reach 4K though, I think Google lied miserably as 1080p is capped at 3.5MBs and 4K capped at 5.6MBs, which is not quite we saw in all speeds recommendations from Stadia.
EDIT: I wanted to add that my PC monitor (Dell U2518H) at 1440p Chrome looks incredibly better than Chromecast (both wired), by far. Seems that it´s the upscaling or something but it stutters as hell and there is a lot of sudden pixelation.
Same here.
Vodafone 1Gbit Cable with fritz!box 6951. CCU plugged directly into it via ethernet.
Since a couple of days now, it's not getting excellent quality classification anymore.
We just got an upgrade in speed from 200mbit. Also we had a very old router before the 6591.
Sad.
Have to add one thing, that I just tried:
Network quality good:
Tomb Raider (HDR, 5.1)
Samurai showdown (5.1)
Farming simulator (HDR, 5.1)
Destiny 2 (HDR, 5.1)
Network quality excellent:
Nba 2k20 (4k, HDR, 5.1)
Weird. It seems to be game dependent.
