This "auto-response" is actually the best you can do atm, check with the bank. Sure it's more hassle if you don't have an account with them. The other option is you wait longer and see if the refund fails, in which case you would get an email from Google with instructions for an alternate payment method.

And if you haven't received the refund by Jan 18 2023, you can also get in touch with the Stadia support.

Hello, I recently received an email regarding my refunds beginning to process. The issue I am facing is the original form of payment that I used for those purchases are no longer active. I was redirected here by google support, and any help would be appreciated helping me get those funds sent to my current form of payment.

Hey @WhyTwoKay,

You can check with your bank in this case. If the refund went through successfully even though your payment method is inactive/expired now (refund can still take up 3-5 days, sometimes even longer), then the bank may have received the money. In case the refund is not successful, you would get an email from Google to ask you to provide an alternate payment method. It's also normal that Google will first attempt to refund the payment method that has originally been used for the purchase.

Q: I no longer have the form of payment I used to make the purchase. How will I get a refund?
A: In many cases, the banking institution will still accept the refund, and we recommend that you reach out to them to receive your funds. If the banking institution does not accept the refund, we will email you with instructions on the steps you’ll need to take to receive your refund.

Hope this helps!

No help to be found here than general responses. Good luck trying to explain that trying to get through security to a bank you're no longer active with is a bigger hassle then anyone here realizes but yes I'll contact my bank I can't access because I don't have an account there. These auto responses aren't helpful in most of these cases
